Starting out with weight training, for whatever reason -- muscle and body, fitness, sports training, competition -- there's the easy way and the proper way. The easy way, in which you walk into a gym or buy a home gym and start lifting, could get you injured and waste your time and cost you money for no result. The more concise approach is to spend a little time to understand the terminology and procedures of weight training and gym culture before you start, and even then, get a good personal trainer or strength conditioner who know what they're talking about to help you out for a few gym sessions.
