Gym weight training programs can vary substantially depending on the sport you're training for. For example, endurance training for bike and run compared to similar power and sprint events can and should demand significantly different approaches. Endurance athletes need power, but they don't need bulk, so the training protocols need to be different. Team sport conditioners, in football for example, might train their big men up front with a program that differs from that they use for their fast, running men. You can see the different approaches I've taken with the following programs, even though the early-phase fundamentals are similar.
