In recent years it has become somewhat popular to use the term "metabolic" training for a certain type of weight training program. This type of program emphasizes moderately heavy weights for long repetitions (and often sets). An example might be a 20RM squat set. That is, you squat with a barbell, front or back, 20 times (or similar) to near failure, and to the point where your muscles and your lungs are screaming. The goal is often weight loss or anaerobic conditioning.
