Velocity of Movement and Muscle Fiber Type in Weight Training

The standard theory of 'power training' in the weights and resistance training realm is that lighter loads at higher velocity produce muscle fiber types (2 and 2A) that are optimized for speed and power rather than outright strength, for which heavier loads and slower exercise movement velocities are deemed to be best.
